Sure, I have a couple of liberal arts degrees, failed College Algebra (twice) and the only “code” I know is the one to get me in my apartment building. But I love tech startups — the ideas, the energy, the community. And in my new role as City Manager at StartupCity Des Moines, I get to be a part of it.
This blog documents my journey into geekdom.
A quick recap of my background:
I grew up in St. Louis, Mo. (Go Cards!). I have a BA in Journalism and MA in Communications. I’ve worked as a reporter at a daily newspaper, did marketing for a nonprofit education consortium, was an editor at Better Homes & Gardens, ran my own consulting business, sold technology equipment for 6 months, was unemployed for 6 months, and now I’m at StartupCity. I live and work in downtown Des Moines and I LOVE MY CITY. I have two dogs I adore, have a great group of friends, enjoy vodka, love running and seeing movies, and I’m loud — REALLY loud.
